Christ Church Guesthouse Facilities

Inside the courtyard, visitors discover a tranquil courtyard amongst shady trees, flowers and intriguing historic buildings. Christian staff members from around the world serve and minister to guests touring the Christ Church complex, and those staying in the Guest House. Constructed in the 1830’s, the buildinss are also home to CMJ’s Alexander College and the Conrad Schick Library for historical research.

Facing the Guest House is the 19th century Christ Church – the first Protestant Church in the Middle East – where visitors can pray, or just bask in the unique atmosphere of one of the jewels of Jerusalem's undiscovered places. The church is home to a number of weekly worship services.  Next to the Church is the Minister's House, the site of the first British Consulate in Israel.

Within the Guest House, visitors can enjoy refreshments or full meals in the Coffee Shop, or join in a Shabbat meal on Friday evenings.  Living accommodations are comfortable, offering suites, single and double rooms furnished in the Ottoman style.

There is also a beautiful, secluded prayer garden, available on request, for quiet reflection, study, prayer and renewal.

The unique historical environment also enables visitors to learn about the inspiring contributions by the London Jews Society (CMJ) to the land and people of Israel.  Our Heritage Center, which includes the historic buildings, a number of 19th century architectural models and many displays and photographs, chronicle the events and notable individuals whose passion for God led them to work on behalf of the Jewish people. Visitors to the Heritage Centre should not miss a climb down the narrow stairs to the Herodian Tunnel display. The tunnel was discovered when Christ Church was built in the 1840’s, but lay hidden until it's reopening in the 1990's.

Christ Church Ministry Center staff members are available to show visitors around the centre, and tell them about, and arrange for study tours offered by our own Shoresh Tours.
