A Fabulous Location In The Heart of Jaffa

During the British mandate, our building once served as a hub between Jaffa and Tel Aviv. Eventually, the two cities grew and were joined to make Tel Aviv-Yafo. Today, this places us in a perfectly central location.

We are just a short 5-minute walk from golden beaches and within walking distance of the modern city of Tel Aviv - and there's loads to do in the area, including Old Jaffa's artisan flea market.

Beit Immanuel also has its own Heritage Centre describing the history of the guest house and the surrounding area.

Jaffa - famous through the ages

For more than 4,000 years, Jaffa (also know as Yafo and Joppa) has served as one of the major port cities on the Mediterranean. Known as the gateway to Israel, this ancient city is remembered for its association with the Bible stories of Jonah and Solomon in the Old Testament, and Saint Peter in the New Testament.

The New Testament account records several of Peter's acts which took place in Jaffa. This includes the raising of Tabitha, his stay at the house of Simon the Tanner, and the vision of the sheet of unkosher foods descending from heaven. It was from here that he journeyed up the coast to Caesarea to tell about Jesus at the request of the Romans.

"You should not calculate times for him to come, or to look in the verses of Tanach to see when he should come. The sages say: The wisdom of those who calculate times is small... he will be greater and more honoured than all of the kings of Israel since the beginning of time as it is prophesied by all the prophets from Moses our teacher to Malachi."
(Maimonides on Messiah)
