Following Peter's denial, Jesus faces judgment at the hands of Pontius Pilate. Unlike where tradition places the event, at Antonia's Fortress, the actual event most likely happened at what is now termed 'The Tower of David'. It was here that, seeking to keep a fragile peace, Pilate condemned Jesus, a man who he knew was innocent, for his own political game.
As humans, we always tend to identify with the victim and the oppressed. Rarely do we put ourselves in the shoes of the oppressor. Yet this story teaches us how fickle we really are, how we ourselves can easily become a Pilate-like figure where we condemn Jesus for our own gains.
